The Pull In

The previous one was just mimic to the topic, what lies inside the hood can only be observed if one shows interest to know about it. Only one of the many topics were hit in my previous blog, time to Pull In.
This time, one thing that meets more than the eye. It’s the Law Breaking. Have anyone noticed the two messages that one of the tyre company ads are showing. Well, then I would say that u better see it once again.
I was going through the newspaper the other day and I noticed that the Law was not followed by the one who are actually the protectors (courtesy TOI dated: 11th Dec’10 Mumbai edition). I have seen in my hometown, people just breaking simple protocols. This totally shows what really makes us fall apart from the rest of the world.
No doubt, it is never possible to make any firm, or any individual PERFECT, but we can do our very own bit to improve ourselves. I still remember the day when I was on the way to natives and the noticeable thing was that two cars sped past away in a jiffy, and it was obvious that the two cars were racing and needless to say in a matter of two hours I saw them on the sides of road with both of the cars almost squeezed to a side-block, and honestly speaking there was a granny lane kept because of this. Whom were those two drivers proving?? If they had that kind of liking, then why didn’t they just went for F3 driving test?
Infact there is more that can be enlisted, but for this pull in this will be enough. Although, to put an acerbate in this wring is that in one of the bollywood film at the start itself, there is a statement and it goes as: “Mein GOD mein vishwas nahi karta, par jab mein India aaya toh yakeen hua ki GOD hai, kyunki ye desh GOD ke BHAROSE chal raha hai
What makes me think right now is that, can we prove that wrong (in all aspects)?? Can we as responsible people come out of that newspaper that we read everyday depicting the country’s flaws and end up saying:”Iss Desh ka Kya Hoga??” Can we do it??
I would leave you right here and come back soon with more on it.

Civic Sense

Definitely writing my first blog, could not resist on wiring few lines on CIVIC SENSE:
So what is actually Civic Sense??
It can be defined as one of the humane qualities (that would be ethical to say) which should be followed by people in public.
We (Indians) claim that we are already developed and all those crap, but are we actually developed?? Why is it that people of India are looking to stay abroad and continue their livelihood over there and feel awkward to do the same in their very own country? Why is it that there are only some bunch of people who take pride in following civic sense? Why is it that every time some bunch of students and only social workers/activist go for a sweep drive at Juhu Beach?
The examples have just started, but in the real sense the list might be endless. Having travelled across the globe as a Marine Engineer, the thing that pinched all the way was What is India Lacking now? Needless to say, today I found it.
To go through some stats:
·         So called Prestigious Institutes of India IIT’s are ranked amongst the best 100 colleges/universities of the world.
·         India’s higher education system is third in the world after USA & China
·         India has a literacy rate of 61% according to 2001 census
·         Delhi was ranked 69 on the world richest cities with Mumbai on 67, courtesy: http://www.allcountries.org/ranks/richest_cities_2008.html
·         India ranks 16th in the industrial growth rate(%) in 2010 (while it ranked 43rd in 2003),courtesy: http://www.photius.com/rankings/economy/industrial_production_growth_rate_2010_0.html
Well, this was just a starter, but what added sourly taste to main course was the above bold question? The answer was definitely right on the way. With a heavy heart I would say that it is definitely the civic sense, the country is lacking. With some under the belt of the country, why it is always needed to have a cleanliness/awareness program in the country.
One more to add, it is said that Western Railway of Mumbai EMU spends a fortune of money on just thriving to keep the EMUs clean.
The suburban local trains on Western Railway (WR) can be expected to be cleaner than usual. Each train will now be cleaned once every 10 days. Earlier, it was cleaned every 40 days. The mechanized cleaning at the WR started on Thursday. The work is being handled by a private agency at a cost of Rs 4 crore for two years.
The trains will be cleaned using mechanized cleaning methods wherein the paan stains, stickers and graffiti will be removed using jet water sprays and fragrance filled liquid. “Cleanliness of trains was a major issue. There was frequent chain pulling by commuters because coaches were unclean, which affected the punctuality of train services. Hopefully, this won’ be the case anymore,” said R.N. Verma, General Manager, WR.

Recently, with all my friends, boarded a train for Andheri and it was found one of the guys trying to spit out. Looking from his dress-attire, I assumed the person to be educated, then why such an action?? On interaction, I as responsible citizen told him about the above example and finally made him convinced him for his wrong action. One of my friends also successfully accomplished this type of task when he was travelling alone in a suburban train.
This was just a start from my side, hope to add soon. But next time when a person tries to do something that lacks civic sense, then just think of one thing and that is the Meaning of Green Color in the Tri-color of India.
